Nuki Ward-Foden is now 2 months into a building apprenticeship and thriving.
During our 2020 Licence to Work programme at Taupo-nui-a-Tia College Nuki grew and developed in confidence and as the year progressed he displayed a very good understanding of the employability skills that were required in the workplace.
Towards the end of last year Nuki was placed with Tyrone at TNT Builders for his work experience. At the completion of his 80 hours Nuki had become familiar with the many skills required in the building industry. Despite there being no vacancies available at the time, he kept turning up and helping out when needed. His perseverence and communication with key people paid off and he was offered an opportunity to have a trial period with Luke from Nailing It Taupo. Making the most of this opportunity – Nuki was then rewarded with a full time position earlier this year.
He absolutely loves his job and the environment that Luke creates. What Nuki enjoys the most is that every day is different and he’s learning new skills all the time. The majority of his work is on new builds with the occasional rennovation.
